Manufacturers and distributors of a product are liable for injury caused by damaging qualities of the product arising from its use, consumption or storage.

Product safety and safety in services is of the utmost importance for consumers. Several agencies are involved with safety supervision.

Products may only be put on the market in Iceland if their design, composition and processing do not present a hazard to the safety of humans, domestic animals or property.
