Roads, maps and driving conditions

• Road maps and geographic data are available from the National Land Survey of Iceland.
• Information on driving conditions and road conditions may be accessed from the Icelandic Road Administration.
• Moreover, the Icelandic Road Administration provides information on driving conditions and the weather by telephone, 1777.
• Off-road driving is prohibited. Driving off-road and off marked trails can cause considerable and irrevocable damage to the environment. Damage to vehicles caused by off-road driving or costs resulting from accidents when driving off road will not be compensated by insurance companies.
